PRINCESS DIANA FRANKLIN MINT OOAK "ELEGANCE" PORCELAIN DOLL + CUSTOM DRESS.
Tonight my auction is for a One of a Kind item!  This is a genuine Franklin Mint Porcelain Portrait Doll that comes dressed and accessorized to immediately be displayed.
The doll is "Elegance"  and she is in tip top condition.  Those creamy shoulders are just perfect for this particular dress with the diagonal cut.  The porcelain is shaded to place the most delicate blush on her cheeks and the eyes are that blue that everyone loved. The silver shoes are the original.  There is no chipped paint and no cracks, breaks or other imperfections.  She comes with her black base and she has her silky blue knickers on.
That handmade gown is just a delight to behold however and it comes with a matching fabric purse.  The entire dress is lined in a silky white fabric and the seams are surged.  It fastens up the back with snaps.  It is a lovely soft aqua color with little silvery sparkles shot through it.  Very nice to the touch.  The bodice is nicely tailored with the front and back seams curving to enhance that lithe body.  With the slightly dropped waistline falling into a full but lightly gathered skirt, this gown just screams" Let's Dance, Darling!"  The dress is labeled "Sweet Creations" who must be given full credit for this very desirable gown.  Prices always reflect the quality.  The purse is the same fabric but it does not open.
The big feature is the bow on the left shoulder. That is just so chic!  Not every woman could wear a dress like this but WOW!  The woman that could wear it, just had to be really spectacular.
The ELEGANCE doll from Franklin Mint was one of the few that displayed the sapphire engagement ring that Diana treasured so.  This doll has hers solidly affixed as well as her original sapphire earrings.  They dangle and are not tarnished even after all these years.
Diana did wear this gown to places other than Australia but I put together this look to take us back to the earliest days of love for these two young people.  So this doll was chosen for this dress because of the amount of porcelain and the big 80's hair she has.   I did include a photo of Diana wearing this gown and her diamond necklace VS the jeweled head band and as you can see, totally different look, but still achievable.
But to really imitate the look she had that evening so long ago,  I added the jeweled head band she wore that night.  I have read her tiara was misplaced but can't really say anymore. The head band is a double row of clear crystals with a large blue stone surrounded by a halo of the same crystals and mounted on a dark blue backer.  The blue does not touch your doll however so you do not have to worry about staining.
Of course, if the princess does not desire to wear all her jewels that evening, that accessory can be removed as easily as it is placed.  It is also handmade but not by Sweet Creations.  There are other dresses in the closet that it can be worn with.   And the dress can also be worn without the head band so you have a couple of different looks with the same pieces.
I have never attempted to style the hair on any of my dolls so be assured the curls and fullness are just as they were from the factory. When I was taking my pictures I wanted her to look properly coiffed but I did not wish to disturb the natural style and curl given to her hair if she appears a bit rumpled.  I usually just use my fingertips and a mascara comb to smooth it down.

This is a one of a kind doll, no doubt.  Created because I just had to have a new doll and dress and I have been so happy I did it this way for I have enjoyed just looking at her.  Exactly the way I wanted her to look. This doll has not been displayed for at least 10 years and was always kept in a cabinet away from dust.  Since put away, she has been kept out of light and wrapped carefully.  She is truly a work of art and I really believe you will be very proud to own her for this next journey.
